Miller's exit prompts exec moves
New Line has streamlined its marketing operations, announcing promotions for VPs Laura Carrillo and Kevin Shelby, the hiring of VP Matt Brubaker and new jobs for three others.
The shakeup comes in the wake of Steve Miller’s exit to MGM from a co-VP position with Carrillo overseeing creative advertising. Carrillo now assumes solo control over creative advertising as senior VP, with Brubaker coming in as VP of creative advertising, reporting to her. He started with New Line and most recently was a VP at Creative Domain.
The studio also bumped up Kevin Shelby to senior VP of marketing. Both he and Carrillo will jointly report to Rolf Mittweg, president and chief operating officer of worldwide marketing and distribution, and Russell Schwartz, prexy of domestic marketing.
Carrillo and Shelby both joined the company in 1999 and have been involved in major campaigns for “The Lord of the Rings,” “Austin Powers” and all other studio projects.
“Our marketing operations have always been a collaboration among all the bright, resourceful and tremendously creative people on our team,” Mittweg and Schwartz said in a joint statement. “They have contributed significantly to our success this past year.”
The studio also announced three other moves: Mike Groszkruger was promoted to director of research; Jae Evans was named exec director, creative print/production; and Julie Trampush was hired as print production coordinator.
