Exec to o'see Times Square studio, skein prod'n
HOLLYWOOD — Tony DiSanto has been promoted to senior VP of production for MTV, assuming the role of executive producer Bob Kusbit, who is launching his own production company.
Kusbit’s new One Louder Prods. will be housed at MTV, where it will have a first look development/production deal. He’ll also serve as an overall consultant for the MTV Production group.
Kusbit already has a few MTV projects on his plate, including the first One Louder-produced series, “Made,” set to debut in January, as well as MTV’s signature Spring Break event for next year.
Gotham-based DiSanto moves up from VP in taking on Kusbit’s role.
Times Square titan
DiSanto will oversee production for MTV’s Times Square studio, music specials and series, special events and video programming, including “Total Request Live,” for which he already serves as executive producer and co-creator along with Kusbit.
He will also be responsible for the creative, logistics, on-air talent and staff (writers, producers and directors) for MTV Production.
He reports to Dave Sirulnick, exec VP of news and production for MTV.
DiSanto began his career as a freelance producer-director. He started at MTV in 1989 as an intern.
Kusbit, one of the key players in hiring such MTV talent as Carson Daly, joined the music cabler in 1997. Since then, he also has been instrumental in the creation of various shows and specials. Prior to joining MTV in 1997, he was prexy of MoPo Prods., Maury Povich’s production company.
