NEW YORK — The League of American Theaters & Producers plans a September redux of its successful “Season of Savings” promotion, which tied discount theater tickets to reduced prices at restaurants, hotels and parking lots.
Jan Svendsen, the league’s director of marketing, said the program most likely would run between Labor Day and Columbus Day, traditionally the lowest-grossing weeks of the year. The program again is headed up by the legit marketing firms of Serino-Coyne and Spotco.
Svendsen said Broadway theaters had not taken an industrywide position on how to observe the first anniversary of Sept. 11. “We’re getting information on what the city is planning,” she said. “We’re waiting to hear back from the mayor’s office.”
According to Svendsen, some Broadway producers already had planned not to have their shows perform either matinee or evening perfs that Wednesday. In those cases, shows probably would add Monday and Sunday evening performances.
