Road B.O. takes a tumble

Road grosses

NEW YORK — By contrast with Broadway, the road season ended on a sour note, as grosses dived by a whopping 31.4% to $9,234,386.

The reason for the decline: A handful of shows on layoff — including “Saturday Night Fever,” “South Pacific,” Kiss Me, Kate” and “Contact” — as well as two permanent exits from the roster: “Copenhagen” and “Stones in His Pockets.”
