May’s ‘Adult’ rated for late fall Off B’way

Aiello, Berlin star as Donen helms play about porn

Elaine May’s new play, “Adult Entertainment,” is set for a late fall Off Broadway premiere.

“Adult Entertainment” is the story of six pornographers who, tired of toiling for others in the skin trade, decide to make their own XXX-rated movie. Danny Aiello and Jeannie Berlin star, and Stanley Donen directs. Mary Birdsong, Brandon Demery, Eric Elice and Linda Halaska round out the cast.

The comedy opens Dec. 2 at the Variety Arts Theater, with previews to begin Nov. 16. An out-of-town engagement is planned for the Stamford Center for the Arts Nov. 1-10. Producers are Julian Schlossberg, Roy Furman and Ben Sprecher.

The Variety Arts currently houses Thomas McCormack’s play “Endpapers.”
