‘Evolution’ taps Hamilton, Skye

'Menopause' moves to Playhouse 91

Josh Hamilton and Ione Skye headline “Evolution” at the Bleecker Street Theater. Presented by Urban Empire, Jonathan Marc Sherman’s new play lets its hero make the not-so-difficult choice between pop-culture celebrity and academic obscurity. Keira Naughton and Peter Dinklage round out the cast. Opening night is set for Sept. 30.

Off Broadway has not been kind to musicals lately. But even after 50, there is hope. Five months into its run at Theatre Four, “Menopause: The Musical” is moving to a larger Off Broadway space, Playhouse 91. Written by Jeanie Linders and directed by Kathleen Lindsey, “Menopause” reopens on Sept. 26 at the Eastside venue.
