Canon to open ‘War Letters’

World premiere based on Carroll's bestselling book

The world premiere of “War Letters,” based on Andrew Carroll’s bestselling book, will be produced at the Canon Theater in Beverly Hills by Canon Theatricals and Robert Redford’s Sundance Theater.

Sundance Theater artistic director Philip Himberg will direct the dramatization of wartime correspondence from the American Civil War through the current conflict in Afghanistan. The play will open Feb. 3.

Playwright and Sundance alum Paul Selig adapted “War Letters” for the stage. “Letters” will be read by an ensemble of actors, featuring two celebrities who will rotate into the cast every two or three weeks, as with “Love Letters” and “Vagina Monologues.” Casting will be announced later.
