Warner Bros. Pictures has made its first foray into Italian-language film production with “Ma Che Colpa Abbiamo Noi” (It Can’t Be All Our Fault). Warner’s partner on the pic is Carlo Verdone and Marco Scaffardi’s Virginia Films.
Now shooting in Italy, pic takes a comic look at a group of therapy patients left to their own devices after their shrink dies in the middle of a session. After a disastrous encounter with a new therapist, the group decides to go it alone.
Italian comedian Verdone, who co-wrote the film with Piero De Bernardi, Pasquale Plastino and Fiamma Satta, also serves as the film’s director and star.
Pic is part of Warner’s ongoing push into local-language production.
In addition to its French-language co-production with La Petite Reine, “Le Boulet,” the studio bought Italian distribution rights to Pedro Almodovar’s “Hable con Ella,” has long-term deals with Germany’s X-Filme and Target Media and acquired multiple territories on the 2001 Cannes Palme d’Or-winning Italian film “The Son’s Room.”
