Corrado, Rocco, Francis and Thompson promoted

Four distribution vets have won their VP stripes at Universal Pictures.

Joan Corrado, Gary Rocco, Lynne Francis and Bruce Thompson — managers at regional offices in Boston, Gotham, L.A. and Dallas, respectively — were promoted Wednesday by U distrib prexy Nikki Rocco.

“They are outstanding leaders of our team who have demonstrated their value to Universal Pictures countless times over the years, and I am proud to work with them,” Rocco said.

Corrado joined U in 1963 as a Boston biller in the Universal Film Exchange office. She subsequently served in a variety of posts before being promoted to branch manager in 1980.

Rocco was hired as a booker in the New York Universal Film Exchange in 1971. He rose to office manager in 1975 and metro district manager in 1994.

Francis joined U in 1989, after earlier stints at Columbia, Cannon and Lorimar, as branch manager for Seattle-Portland-Salt Lake City based in the L.A. office of the Universal Film Exchange. She was appointed L.A. branch manager in 1993.

Thompson came to U as a salesman and was quickly promoted to branch manager in the Dallas office of the Universal Film Exchange in 1989. He earlier worked for Paramount, Cannon, New Century/Vista and Vestron.
