Thomas heads Blighty's Board of Film Classification
LONDON — Quentin Thomas began his new job as president of the British Board of Film Classification on Thursday, replacing Andreas Whittam Smith.
Thomas is a senior civil servant whose career has spanned the Home Office, the Northern Ireland Office and the Cabinet Office. He was knighted for his prominent role in the Northern Ireland peace process.
While at the Home Office, he addressed legal issues concerning film censorship, indecent displays and obscenity. He was also head of the broadcasting department.
