Till taps Spinks

Signpost's business head to be based in L.A.

LONDON — Stewart Till’s Signpost Films has hired Lynwood Spinks as head of worldwide business affairs, based in Los Angeles.

Spinks was most recently chief operating officer of Industry Entertainment, and previously founded HyperFilms Inc., which had a first-look deal with Universal.

He worked at Carolco Pictures Inc. between 1986 and 1996, ending up as COO.

His appointment fills the second of the four key management posts under Till, who is president and CEO of Signpost. Darryl Iwai has already been named as head of distribution, but the posts of COO, based in London, and head of production, based in Los Angeles, remain to be filled.

Signpost is a worldwide production and distribution venture, backed by Mosaic Media Group and CDP Capital Entertainment. Miramax Films has struck a U.S. distrib deal with the company, and also taken a minority stake.
