Co. plans to release 15-18 titles each year
Six-month-old specialty distrib THINKFilm is aiming to become the most dominant distributor of video premiere movies through its newly formed label Velocity Home Entertainment.The company plans to release 15-18 titles each year, initially focusing on the acquisition and distribution of “testosterone”-fueled action and sci-fi movies aimed at young male audiences, such as Velocity’s first release, “Pressure Point” starring Michael Madsen, which debuts May 28. Jeff Sackman, formerly president of Lions Gate Films for six years, brought other Lions Gate execs on board including Randy Manis, VP of acquisitions and business affairs and Marc Hirshberg, who as VP of finance and operations for THINKFilm will be overseeing the entire Velocity division.
