Feig wrote, is helming Holm novel adaptation

Joan Plowright and Jim Caviezel have joined the cast of Walden Media’s period drama “I Am David,” an epic about an 11-year-old boy’s journey across post-WWII Europe.

Principal photography is under way in Bulgaria, with Ben Tibber (“A Christmas Carol”) in the lead role.

Paul Feig (“Freaks and Geeks”) directs and adapted the script from the novel by Anne Holm. Producers are Clive Parsons and Davina Belling of Film & General Prods. and Lauren Levine. Walden VP of production Perry Moore is overseeing the project, with Summit Entertainment selling international rights.

Currently in post-production is “Holes.” Based on Louis Sachar’s Newbery Award-winning novel, the film stars Sigourney Weaver and Jon Voight. Company is also adapting “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”
