MADRID — Spanish distribution and sales house Sogepaq has announced a new international sales team in the wake of the departure of former head of sales Eva Diederix.
Sogepaq forms the distribution arm of powerful production-distribution combo Sogecine-Sogepaq. Both are owned by Spanish pay TV leader Sogecable.
Simon de Santiago has been tapped as Sogecine-Sogepaq deputy director of distribution, reporting to distribution director Jacques Roldan. De Santiago previously headed up script development at Canal Plus Espana Guiones.
Sophie de Mac Mahon and Veronica Roldan have been promoted to the position of sales execs.
“The incorporation of Simon de Santiago and Sophie de Mac Mahon underscores our continuing commitment to international distribution. We want to work with the majority of Spanish producers, promoting their films overseas,” said Jacques Roldan.
The new execs will hit the ground running handling a new slate of films, led by Fernando Leon’s awaited San Sebastian competish player “Mondays in the Sun,” top lining Javier Bardem, Imanol Uribe’s coming of age tale “Carol’s Journey,” and Enrique Urbizu’s “Box 507,” which has grossed $1.6 million to date.
Diederix ankled in July to spearhead UGC Image’s international sales in Paris.
