‘Sensitive’ wins kudo

$30K grant used to make 15-30 minute Showtime film

Gustavo Mercado is the winner of Showtime’s Third annual Latino Filmmaker Showcase. His short film, “Sensitive,” will be the highlight of the Showcase, which is set to air on the network during Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15). Mercado will also receive a $30,000 grant to use toward the production of a 15-30 minute film that will eventually preem on Showtime.In addition to “Sensitive,” the pay cabler will also feature four additional finalist films as part of its Latino Filmmaker Showcase: “First Days,” directed by Lidia Estrada; “Learning to Swim,” directed by Christopher Olness; “De Colores,” directed by Peter Barbosa and Garrett Lenoir; and “Trauco’s Daughter,” directed by Francisca Fuenzalida.
