‘Potter’ bestselling Brit vid

More than 1.25 mil sold on first day

LONDON — Video and DVD sales of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” surpassed 1.25 million units on the first day of release in the U.K. May 11, beating “Titanic”‘s 1.1 million tally to a new British record.

“The demand for this video has been unprecedented and the results have exceeded all our expectations,” Warner Home Video managing director Neil McEwan said.

Warner Home Video shipped 5 million copies of the pic to 700 stores across the country.
