Homegrown thesps Rosie Perez and John Turturro have been tapped to co-host the IFP/New York Gotham Awards.
Longtime associates of the org, Perez sits on the board of directors and Turturro was the first recipient of the event’s actor prize.
“Rosie and John define what the IFP is all about,” said Michelle Byrd, exec director of IFP/New York. “They are New York-trained actors, they are risk-takers and they understand the value of the independent film movement.”
This will be the first time the annual gala has had a pair of co-hosts. (Previous emcees have included Andy Dick, Stanley Tucci and Jon Stewart.)
In addition, org has named fashion designer Miuccia Prada honorary chair of the event.
“The Fondazione Prada and the IFP have recently began collaborating on a series of programs to support emerging filmmakers,” said Byrd. “We are grateful for Prada’s investment in the future of the film industry and proud to be associated with such a forward-thinking organization.” Nonprofit org Fondazione Prada supports contemporary art and culture programs.
Kudofest will take place Sept. 26 at Pier Sixty. Bravo will broadcast the ceremony Sept. 29.
