SYDNEY — Australia’s top three film fests, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, will include FIPRESCI juries for the first time this year.
The international film critics’ org will award a prize for Asia Pacific cinema at the Brisbane Intl. Film Festival in July; same month the Melbourne Intl. Film Festival will judge features from new Asian filmmakers, plus an Australian Feature will be cited; June the Sydney Film Festival will award a docu prize.
Sydney fest program, announced today, opens June 7 with world preem of Craig Lahiff’s legal drama “Black and White” toplined by Robert Carlyle and Kerry Fox and shutters June 21 with Alfonso Cuarón’s “Y tu mamá también” (And Your Mother, Too).
