New Regency Entertainment has acquired the pitch “Give It Up” from tyro scribe Dana Schmalenberg, with MBST Entertainment attached to produce.
Story’s set at a rock ‘n’ roll summer camp for girls, where two feuding lead singers make a bet in which the last to lose her virginity must drop out of the competition for a recording contract.
Pitch was based on an idea from MBST manager Jonathan Hung and developed by MBST veep of production Jennifer Toddhunter. Schmalenberg, who wrote for Disney program “The Famous Jett Jackson,” will pen the script.
MBST’s Larry Brezner and Walter Hamada will produce, with Hung and Toddhunter exec producing. Overseeing the production for New Regency are production VP Stacy Maes and production prexy Sanford Panitch.
MBST recently set up “The Wandering Warrior” and “Deathwatch,” both at Warner Bros. Pictures.
