Richard Brener has been named executive VP of production for New Line Cinema.
Brener, who oversaw and served as co-executive producer of “The Wedding Singer” and was exec producer of “Boiler Room” and “Final Destination,” joins executive VP of production Lynn Harris in managing the department’s day-to-day operations, reporting directly to production president Toby Emmerich.
“After seven years at New Line, Richard is practically a lifer,” Emmerich said. “Throughout his years here, he has only kicked the bar higher, cultivating great films and creative relationships with energy and passion. We are thrilled to recognize his hard work and ingenuity with this promotion.”
Brener joined New Line as a temp in 1995 and rose through the ranks from story editor to senior VP. Overseeing the studio’s relationships with key talent, including Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller and the late Ted Demme, Brener currently is handling such films as “Run Ronnie Run!,” which premiered at last month’s Sundance Film Festival, as well as the upcoming “Austin Powers 3,” “Final Destination 2,” “Cheaters,” “Untitled Vin Diesel Project,” “Willard,” “Solace” and “The Other Side of Simple.”
