Scribe duo marks first sale with supernatural tale

New Line Cinema has seized scribes David Jung and Steve Dandois’ pitch “Solomon Kane,” based on a character from Conan the Barbarian creator Robert E. Howard.

Don Murphy, through his Angry Films banner, and Gregg Hoffman are attached to produce. Paul and Michael Berrow, who control author Howard’s estate, are onboard as producers.

Story follows Solomon Kane — a character created by Howard — to colonial America in a saga that weaves together elements from Howard’s stories. Kane’s heroic quest pits him against deadly human and occult forces as he seeks revenge on the shape-shifting sorcerer who destroyed his family.

New Line prexy of production Toby Emmerich, along with Lynn Harris and David Brewington, will steer the project for the studio.

Deal marks the first sale for newcomers Jung and Dandois. They previously penned the original action adventure screenplay “Invincible.”

Both are repped by UTA and managed by Brian Lutz.
