New faces for U.K. Film Council

Green, Knibbs replace retiring directors

LONDON — The Film Council has confirmed the appointment of two new board members – Nigel Green, joint managing director of Entertainment Film Distributors, and Steve Knibbs, senior vice president of United Cinemas Intl.

These are the first new directors to be appointed since the Film Council was launched two years ago. They replace retiring board members Colin Leventhal and Charles Denton.

“I am delighted that Nigel and Stephen are joining the board,” said chairman Sir Alan Parker. “They bring a new level of skill to the board as regards film distribution and exhibition.”

“The timing is good because we are now working on proposals to encourage real structural change in the U.K. film industry and expertise from the distribution and exhibition sectors is going to be particularly important over the coming months,” he added.
