HOLLYWOOD — The Intl. Cinematographers Guild has named nine finalists in its sixth annual Film Showcase competition for members not yet rated as directors of cinematography.
The kudos went to Patrick Capone for “Born Loser”; Ken Glassing, “False Hood”; Cynthia Pusheck, “Ezekiel”; Diego Quemada-Diez, “A Table Is a Table”; Sonja Rom, “Ice Cream Sundae”; Dave Rutherford, “Straw-berry Spring”; Chris Squires, “Old Love”; Christopher Tufty, “Spirit of Yosemite”; and Nathaniel Wilson, “Up.”
The films, which must be 30 minutes or less, will premiere May 5 at the Directors Guild of America headquarters in Los Angeles. They will also be shown at the Cannes Film Festival; additional screenings are also planned for New York, Boston, Chicago, Orlando, Miami, San Francisco and Dallas.
“This showcase is a preview of what tomorrow’s top filmmakers have to offer,” said ICG prexy George Spiro Dibie. “It also demonstrates that there is a deep reservoir of talent in our industry, and that bodes well for the future.”
