Tony-nominated helmer Howard Davies is attached to direct “An Instance of the Fingerpost,” a mystery thriller set in late 18th century England.
Pic, based on a novel by Ian Pears, is being put together by London-based producer Mark Shivas, in tandem with financier Visionview.
It was formerly in development at Columbia Pictures.
It marks the return of Davies to the bigscreen after an absence of nine years, since his debut pic “The Secret Rapture” in 1993. His Broadway production of Noel Coward’s “Private Lives” is currently nominated for six Tonys, including one for director.
