HONG KONG — Distribber Golden Scene is suing four film exhibition companies run by Golden Harvest Entertainment Company.
Under writs filed to the High Court and District Court July 19, Golden Scene is seeking $358,994 in outstanding payments. The companies — City Entertainment, Conneway Films, Real Merry and Rich Will — agreed to exhibit Golden Scene-distributed movies including “The Others” and “Gosford Park” and to split the revenue.
The agreements were signed between last September and May.
In separate news, Golden Harvest has shuttered its video rental chain in Taiwan due to piracy and the decline of popularity of VHS tapes.
It retains an office in Taiwan to oversee film distribution.
