Fox 2000 has made a preemptive mid-six figure buy of “The Conspirator,” a spec by tyro scribe Gary Horn.
The project will be produced by Gil Netter and David Zucker, whose exec Thia Montroy was particularly aggressive in mobilizing the deal brokered by Fox 2000 exec Carla Hacken.
While those producers are best known for comedies, “The Conspirator” is more in the vein of their upcoming Fox 2000 pic “Phone Booth,” the Joel Schumacher-directed Colin Farrell starrer that bowed at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival.
Likened to “Enemy of the State,” the drama revolves around a shrink who gets the rude realization that his patients aren’t who he thought they were. Suddenly, he is on the run from some bad people and must figure out why.
Innovative Artists and Untitled repped the writer, who is also developing a CBS pilot for Wolfgang Petersen.
