Flanders to bow with digital ‘Hop’

Standaert's directorial debut stars Decleir, De Boeck, soccer's M'Penza

HOLLYWOOD — For the first time, a digital pic — Dominique Standaert’s directorial debut “Hop” will open the Flanders Intl. Film Festival. The 29th edition of the event will be held in Ghent Oct. 8-19.

The film, about a Burundese teenager’s attempts to be reunited with his deported father, stars Jan Decleir, Antje de Boeck and soccer star Emile M’Penza, who makes his acting debut.

“Hop” is the first feature film production in Belgium digitally shot with Sony’s HD 24P digital camera.
