Lucas to receive Stanley Kubrick award

Carrie Fisher will emcee the British Academy of Film & Television Arts/Los Angeles’ 11th annual Britannia Awards, to be held April 12 at the BevHilton.

“Carrie’s humor, charm and wit are highly regarded by all and will play an important part in this special evening,” BAFTA/LA chairman Gary Dartnall said.

George Lucas will receive the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film, while HBO Origi-nal Programming will get the Britannia Award for Excellence in Television. Kudos show had been skedded for Nov. 10 but was pushed to 2002 due to the Sept. 11 attacks.

BAFTA/LA is a professional non-profit org, founded in 1987, whose members represent all disciplines of showbiz. It is associated with BAFTA, which was established in London in 1947.
