First Run fest shows student best

The 60th annual First Run Film Fest unspools April 8-15, showcasing output by students from the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Fest features 155 shorts and videos, running the gamut from traditional dramas to experimental shorts and animation. Week kicks off with the Dean’s Craft Awards ceremony and announcement of 20 Wasserman Awards finalists, named for benefactors Lew and Edie Wasserman.

Week wraps up with presentation of 10 awards totaling $50,000. Wasserman finalist pics will screen in Hollywood in June.
