First Hand Films has boarded Emmy-nommed TV director Javier Diez Moro’s English-lingo, docu-style feature “Truth and Lies.”
“Truth,” an expose of the power exercised by big media groups, will mix real and fictional events and people in a mockumentary about a probe into the death of fictional media magnate Martin Zeman.
Budgeted at around E1 million ($1.03 million), it is skedded to shoot beginning March 3 in New York, Paris, Cologne, Dusseldorf and Madrid. Pic is co-produced by Spain’s Maestranza Films, Germany’s Broadview TV and France’s Dune.
“Some broadcasters have slots strictly for documentaries or for fiction, so it will be challenging selling the film,” said Esther van Messel, founder of Zurich-based First Hand Films.
“Truth and Lies” has been greenlit as Benito Zambrano is prepping “Havana Blues,” his long-discussed feature follow-up to acclaimed debut “Solas” (Alone), which also will be produced by Maestranza.
