Fipresci fetes ‘Man’

Aki Kaurismaki’s “The Man Without a Past” has been voted film of the year by the Fipresci international film critics federation, it was announced Tuesday.

Fipresci’s new director award went to Lynne Ramsay’s “Morvern Callar.”

The two Fipresci honors will be presented to Kaurismaki and Ramsay at the 50th San Sebastian Intl. Film Festival, Sept. 19-28.

Some 200 Fipresci members from 41 countries took part in the vote, which covered films released from August 2001 to July.
