Pic follows kidnapping and murder of Aldo Moro

Rai Cinema and Filmalbatros, the production joint venture of Marco Bellocchio and Sergio Pelone, are prepping Bellocchio’s next pic after Cannes competition player “The Religion Hour (My Mother’s Smile).”

Pic turns on the kidnapping and murder of Aldo Moro.

Filmalbatros now plans to make a film a year, Palone said. It has taken an option on the opera “The Translator,” written by Nikolaus Nutschlechnev and Marie Giaramidaro, and has made a docu “Addio del Passato” on the music of Giuseppe Verdi.

At Cannes, Rai Trade, the overseas sales arm of Italian pubcaster giant Rai, is handling “The Religion Hour” and Gabriele Salvatores’ “Amnesia.”

With Maurizio Totti’s Colorado Film, producer of “Amnesia,” Salvatores is advancing on his own kidnapping movie, “Lo non ho paura,” the story of a young boy who is kidnapped by his own father.

Salvatores has a further project with Colorado, the Israeli-set “Per amore di una donna,” based on a book by Meir Shalev.
