'Hawk' thesp joins Connelly, Kingsley
HOLLYWOOD — Ron Eldard has earned the final lead role in DreamWorks’ three-hander “The House of Sand and Fog,” joining Jennifer Connelly and Ben Kingsley.
Eldard, who was most recently seen in “Black Hawk Down,” will portray a married sheriff’s deputy who falls in love with a self-destructive alcoholic (Connelly). He takes on her obsessive quest to take back a house she once owned, one now inhabited by a retired Iranian colonel (Kingsley) who won it in a foreclosure auction.
Vadim Perelman will make his directorial debut on the pic, which he adapted from the novel by Andre Dubus III. Pic is produced by Michael London and co-produced by Jeremiah Samuels. Cobalt Entertainment Group handles foreign sales.
Repped by ICM and managed by TEG, Eldard will next be seen in “Just a Kiss” and “Ghost Ship.”
