Disney welcomes ‘Wally’

Story focuses on dad who wants son in private school

HOLLYWOOD — Walt Disney Pictures has picked up comedy spec “Wait Listing Wally” from writers Marty Scott & Toni Kotite in a low six-figure deal.

Story follows an average but unhinged Midwestern dad who begins systematically taking down the families ahead of his 5-year-old son on the waiting list for a swank private school.

Sony-based Jenno Topping and Betty Thomas, who just produced “I Spy,” will produce via their Tall Trees Prods., with Erin Stam overseeing the project for the shingle. Disney senior VP of production Karen Glass will oversee the project for Disney.

Genesis-repped writers also penned spec “King for a Day,” which is being produced by Tall Trees and Jonathan Prince for Fox-based New Regency.

Tall Trees is in pre-production on DreamWorks’ “Surviving Christmas,” with Ben Affleck starring and Mike Mitchell at the helm, and is also exec producing the “Charlie’s Angels” sequel at Sony.
