Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films have paid low against midsix figures for an untitled pitch from former executive-turned-writer and producer Ross Canter — his first feature sale.
Script, which Canter is penning, follows the fictionalized adventures of a teenage Thomas Edison who teams up with Wild Bill Hickok and, using the precursors to his greatest inventions, saves the Union during the Civil War.
Bruckheimer Films’ Chad Oman and Mike Stenson brought project into the company and will oversee its development and production, serving as exec producers.
Canter, who is repped by UTA, spent 12 years as an executive at feature production companies including Summers/Quaid Prods., A&M Films and Wizan Film Properties. He most recently was head of production at Morra, Brezner, Steinberg & Tenenbaum Entertainment.
