HOLLYWOOD — The Directors Guild of America has named Joe Pytka for his record-setting 14th nomination as one of five candidates for outstanding directorial achievement in commercials.

Also tapped were Adam Cameron & Simon Cole, aka Joe Public, for their second nom, along with first-timers Craig Gillespie, Bob Kerstetter and Baker Smith. Leslie Dektor won the award last year.

Pytka won the award in 1982, 1986 and 1991 and was last nominated in 1999. The spots were for NYC Miracle, Disney and the Ad Council.

Cameron & Cole’s ads were for Dr. Pepper/Seven Up, Cingular, Visa and Toyota. Gillespie’s included Holiday Inn, Citibank, Ameritech and SBC. Kerstetter’s were for Musco Olives and Smith’s were for Lucky Magazine, Fox Sports, Toshiba and Heineken.

The winner will be announced at the DGA’s Awards ceremonies on March 9 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
