DEFMAN takes over Santa Monica pic fest

6th annual event to be late February

HOLLYWOOD — Dallas’ Deep Ellum Film, Music, Art, and Noise organization (DEFMAN), current sponsor of the Deep Ellum Film Festival in Dallas, has assumed responsibility for hosting the Santa Monica Film Festival and all associated events.

“We are excited about combining these two unique festivals. The Deep Ellum Film Festival was originally modeled after the Santa Monica Film Festival, and it seems a natural step to combine the creative teams,” said Michael Cain, the new exec director of both fests.

DEFMAN promotes independent film and undiscovered talent while simultaneously raising funds for cancer patients and their families.

The 6th Annual Santa Monica Film Festival will take place in late February; the Deep Ellum fest is held in November.
