Danish helmer Winding Refn lensing ‘Fear X’

First English pic stars Turturro, Unger, Remar

LONDON — Danish helmer Nicolas Winding Refn (“Pusher”) has started shooting his first English-language movie, “Fear X,” with John Turturro in the lead role.

Pic is co-written by Winding Refn and Hubert Selby Jr., the author of “Last Exit to Brooklyn” and “A Requiem for a Dream.”

It’s a thriller about a man, haunted by visions, who embarks on a journey to discover the truth behind his wife’s murder. Co-stars include Deborah Unger and James Remar.

Producer is Henrik Danstrup. Moviehouse Entertainment, a new London-based sales company run by Mark Vennis and Gary Phillips, is co-financing the film with Egmont, the Danish Film Institute and TV2.

Shooting started March 11 in Winnipeg, Canada.
