Columbia goes ‘Mentale’

World rights deal worth $4.5 mil

CANNES — Columbia Pictures paid $4.5 million Thursday for world rights, excluding France, to Legende Enterprises’ “La Mentale.”

Gaumont and producer Alain Goldman flogged the pic to the American major from an eight-minute preview reel.

French-language film, directed by Manuel Boursinhac, is about a petty criminal who is persuaded by an old buddy to pull one last crime. It stars Samuel le Bihan, Samy Naceri and Clothilde Courau and opens in France Oct. 23.

StudioCanal owns 50% of Legende.
