Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman-CEO John Calley will receive the 2002 Steven J. Ross/AOL Time Warner Award April 19 from the University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television.
AOL/TW CEO Gerald M. Levin will present the nod to Calley during a private ceremony at USC’s Robert Zemeckis Center for Digital Arts.
“For more than 30 years, including more than a decade at Warner Bros. under Steve Ross, John Calley has used his impeccable taste, considerable leadership skills and well-earned respect within the industry to generate a wealth of pioneering entertainment,” Levin said. “I can think of no one more deserving of this honor.”
“The Steven J. Ross/AOL Time Warner Award is indicative of the enduring relationship that we’ve had with AOL Time Warner,” said the school’s dean, Elizabeth Daley. “We are thrilled to join with them in honoring John Calley, who has demonstrated throughout his career an unwavering commitment to excellence in filmmaking.”
Established in 1992, award recognizes individuals who have advanced the industry and culture of modern media. This year marks the fourth presentation of the kudos; past recipients are former Ambassador to Great Britain Walter Annenberg, Kirk Douglas and Bill Cosby.
