Brits to fete Weinsteins

Co-chairs to receive BFI's highest honor

LONDON — Miramax Films co-chairmen Harvey and Bob Weinstein will receive British Film Institute Fellowships for “outstanding contribution to cinema,” the BFI’s highest honor, at the 50th anniversary gala of the National Film Theater on Oct. 20.

Jack Cardiff, the cinematographer whose work includes “The African Queen” and “A Matter of Life and Death,” will also be honored with a BFI Fellowship.

There are now 56 BFI fellows including, Orson Welles, Akira Kurosawa, Martin Scorsese and Robert Altman.
