Luc Besson’s next project as helmer is to be based on his self-penned fairy tale “Arthur et les Minimoys,” which hits French stores Wednesday.
Story is about 10-year-old orphan Arthur, who is dragged into the magical world of the Minimoys.
Based on an original idea by Besson’s friend Celine Garcia, Arthur’s adventures could become a franchise. Besson will release a second book next spring. Both will be published by Intervista/Manitoba.
“Arthur et les Minimoys,” a live-action pic, will be ready for screens by late 2004 or early 2005, according to Besson’s production outfit, Europa Corp. The project is still in the early stages of preparation, and no details of casting or budget were released.
This will be Besson’s first pic as helmer since 1999’s “The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc.”
