Latin America’s largest animation fest, the 10th Anima Mundi, will kick off today in Brazil.
Featuring 431 films and videos in competition, workshops, panels, and special screenings, the 10-day Rio De Janeiro fest also will honor U.S. Oscar winner Chuck Jones.
The local British Council is sponsoring a daylong screening of British cartoons. “Chicken Run” helmer Peter Lord and his fellow Aardman director Jason Spencer-Galsworthy will be on hand to present the studio’s work.
The fest will have a day dedicated to Disney, include a screening of “Beauty and the Beast” with 20 minutes of additional footage.
Fest attendance last year was 75,000.
