Acad bows Pickford site

Complex holds film archive, players directory

Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks Sr. were once again linked in Hollywood last week, as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences dedicated the Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study, which joins the Fairbanks Center in Beverly Hills as the org’s two major centers of film research and preservation.

The building at 1313 Vine St. houses the Academy Film Archive as well as the Academy Players Directory.

The Fairbanks Center is home to the Margaret Herrick Library.

“We’re bringing one of Hollywood’s most famous couples back together again by dedicating this building in honor of the other half of what was once Hollywood’s royal couple,” said Academy prexy Frank Pierson at the outdoor dedication ceremony, which hosted 350 guests.
