Grant apps will be accepted May 15 to July 1

The Festival Grants Committee of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Science will begin accepting grant applications this year from all U.S. festivals that are at least five years old.

In the past, the Academy only accepted applications from a limited number of festivals to avoid being inundated with finance appeals, said program coordinator Greg Beal.

“But the program has matured,” Beal said. “The committee feels that if a significant increase in applications occurs, it can be handled by the review system we have in place.”

The program has made grants to 38 festivals in the last four years, helping to sponsor elements of festivals, particularly concentrating on making them more accessible to the public.

Grant applications will be accepted from May 15 to July 1.
