Vancouver reaches ‘Heaven’

'Spider,' 'Ararat,' 'Columbine' among other films to be screened

VANCOUVER — The 21st Vancouver film fest will close with Todd Haynes’ Venice fest hit “Far From Heaven,” starring Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid.

The fest, which runs Sept. 26-Oct. 11, will screen 302 films from 52 countries, including 104 Canuck pics. Event organizers announced Wednesday the complete roster, which also features “Spider,” directed by David Cronenberg, and “Ararat,” from Atom Egoyan. Both filmmakers are Canadian.

The Nonfiction Features program, the fest’s largest ever, will unspool “Bowling for Columbine,” the latest docu from Michael Moore, and “Daughter From Danang,” winner of the Grand Jury Prize for docu at Sundance this year.
