Nigel Sinclair and Guy East’s Spitfire Prods. has signed a three-picture deal with new movie investment company Marching Band Prods., which will see the company first provide equity financing for the Bob Dylan starrer “Masked and Anonymous.”
Pic is being helmed by Larry Charles and also features John Goodman, Jeff Bridges, Luke Wilson, Jessica Lange and Penelope Cruz.
Marching Band, formed by the union of Anatoly Fradis of Alfa Films Enterprises and Joseph N. Cohen of American Entertainment Investors, has an initial capital of $20 million funded by leading Russian industrial corporations.
Company plans to grow this sum considerably over the next year and aims to be the primary equity investor on films with a preferred investment of $3 million-5 million. Company is in negotiations on several new projects and expects to announce a second investment shortly.
Cohen was formerly president of Largo Entertainment while Fradis repped the Russian film studio Mosfilm in the U.S. and Canada.
“Today, there are a number of major Russian corporations, which generate hundreds of millions of dollars per year in revenues and cash flow and which are looking to expand their investment horizons beyond the Russian Federation,” Fradis said.
