NEW YORK — The early submission deadline for the Slamdance Film Festival is Aug. 30 and the final deadline is Oct. 11. The annual event runs Jan.18-25 in Park City, Utah, concurrently with Sundance.
Slamdance accepts film, video and digital work of all lengths, genres and formats. Event was recently accepted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences as a qualifying fest for short pics.
The Slamdance organization, which operates year-round, hosts on-the-road screenings in New York and Los Angeles and an annual screenplay competition.
Fest will also host the Slamdance Filmmakers Bootcamp, taking place in Los Angeles Oct. 11-13. Event will include 12 seminars dealing with subjects such as storytelling, digital intermedia to film output and the marketing of an independent film.
Started in 1995 by a group of writer-director-producers, Slamdance continues to be organized and programmed by active filmmakers. Slamdance alums include “Memento” helmer Christopher Nolan, whose pic “Following” screened in 1999, and “Monster’s Ball” helmer Marc Forster, whose “Loungers” screened in 1996.
