DreamWorks’ “Shrek,” handled by Matsuno Design Group and Regency Outdoor, took top honors for best movie ad billboard at the third annual Sunset Strip Billboard Awards (aka the Strippers), presented Thursday at the House of Blues by the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
The History Channel’s “Thou Shalt Tune In,” handled by Horizon Media and Regency Outdoor, took top TV billboard honors.
Billboard of the year prize went to TBWA/Chiat Day for the Absolut L.A. Headshots billboard.
Animal Planet’s “Life Is Better” took tall wall kudos in the entertainment and leisure category, while Perrier’s “Perrier in America,” handled by Viacom Outdoor, won the consumer goods and services nod. A board announcing the Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair took the prize for entertainment and leisure billboard.
Starcom Media Services and Viacom Outdoor dominated the fashion board kudos as the Gap’s “Two Ladies & a Man” (tied with Chanel’s “Girl in Boots” board by the Media Edge and Regency) and Banana Republic’s “Glove, Dog, Woman” took the fashion and fashion accessories categories, respectively.
A public service billboard nod went to Regency’s “Tribute to Captain C. Burlingame,” in memory of a pilot of American Airlines Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon on Sept. 11.
