Davis Entertainment Filmworks is taking a trip to “Heaven’s Pond” with Tara Reid (“National Lampoon’s Van Wilder”) and Kip Pardue (“Remember the Titans”).
Shingle, the indie film arm of Davis Entertainment, has set an August start for lensing the tale of a young couple whose honeymoon on a secluded island devolves into a battle for survival. Thriller has been penned by Joel Viertel, Mora Stephens and Alek Friedman.
Viertel will also direct, and John Davis, J. Todd Harris and Craig Davis Roth will produce. Bill Block will co-exec produce, with Bob Yari and Carol Gilson serving as exec producers.
“Joel and the writers have created a blueprint for a classic thriller in the tradition of ‘Misery,’ ‘Dead Calm,’ ‘Psycho’ and ‘The Shining,’ ” said Harris, who is prexy of Davis Entertainment Filmworks. “I think these are career-galvanizing roles.”
Davis Entertainment VP of creative affairs Lil Phillips brought the project into the shingle, which was renamed earlier this year after six years as Davis Entertainment Classics. The company’s first film, “Denise Calls Up,” won a special mention for the Camera d’Or at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival, and Davis subsequently produced such films as “Digging to China,” “Urbania” and “Bad Manners.”
